but a moment
fluttered down and rested on my shoulders
while planets glided to a stop
and asked me who they were.
a second,
stretches into months
like rubberband
circles until
it becomes a star.
my ears turn red
and I blush
at the thought
of a man
alive
present
before me.
with me,
however I tell
myself —
that he is not.
